Tour Details

Nowhere in the world is more spectacular than in the Everest region. It is where four of the worlds six tallest peaks Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, and Cho Oyu rise above everything else, crowning the towering ridges that straddle the forbidding Himalayans. The Everest Base Camp trek is the grandest walk in the land of the Himalayas. Trekking through the Everest region offers astounding mountain views, and opportunities to get a glimpse into the life of world famous climbers (the Sherpas). The trek further offers the opportunities to go sightseeing around Sagarmatha National Park, a world heritage site that is home to a variety of Himalayan floras and faunas, to get a closer look at the highest Buddhist monasteries in the world, and, of course, the most gratifying of them all, the trip to Everest Base Camp itself. It is an opportunity to embark on an epic journey that Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay set off on in 1953. But nothing beats the thrill and sense of accomplishment that grips travelers on seeing the power and grace of the mighty Everest up close.

Summit Adventures 13-day Everest Base Camp Trek begins with exploring temples, shrines, bazaars and restaurants in the capital city of Kathmandu. The following day we take a flight to Hillary Airport at Lukla, which is itself a breathtaking experience as we get a bird’s-eye view of the entire Himalayan range. The same day, Summit Adventures escorts us on a trek around Sagarmatha National Park and through the colorful surrounding landscapes, Gompas and monasteries enclosed by the soaring peaks. Next will be a steep ascent to Namche Bazaar, the capital of Sherpas, where spectacular mountain vistas greet us. The two days’ rest at Namche is important not just because it gives our body the time it needs to acclimatize, but also because we get a chance to stroll around the village that is home to legendary Sherpas and get acquainted with their culture and monasteries. As we pass through rocky trails, the crisp mountain air, the sprightly pine and fir forests, the gurgling glacial rivers, and the views of Everest and other mighty mountains begin to look more familiar and friendly every day. We continue our journey to reach the famous vantage point, Kala Patthar, from where we get a marvelous 360-degree panoramic view of the world’s tallest mountains. Having completed our mission to reach the Everest Base Camp, we descend to Lukla and take a return flight to Kathmandu.

The 13-Day Everest Base camp itinerary is actually designed for novice trekkers who are in good health with normal physical fitness. Summit Adventures itinerary would be ideal if we are young, energetic, physically fit and have a limited amount of time.

Kathmandu (Google Map)

Summit Adventures can run the Everest Base Camp trek for group of any size. But generally it will be better to have a maximum of twelve to fifteen people, as we have found this to be the optimum size for a successful trip. However, if we would like to make a group booking for more than twelve people together, Summit Adventures can arrange this too.

Accomodation

All accommodations for Everest base camp trek are in local lodges on twin or multiple sharing bases included in the trip cost. During the trip, we will spend three nights in a Deluxe category hotel in Kathmandu and during our trek we will spend 13 nights at standard tea house or at lodge or at hotel in which there are unheated rooms with wooden beds and foam mattresses. However tea houses or lodges of some places are basic with shared washing and toilet facilities. If we are a solo traveler, we will share a room with someone else of same sex of our group or from other group also. If we prefer a single room, we may indicate our preference and get single rooms on request by paying single supplement with additional cost. There are several places that do not allow single accommodations in the Everest Region.
