Khushi Kamboj
It gives me an immense pleasure to introduce Miss Khushi Vinod Kamboj as an extraordinary and outstanding mountaineer.
- Born and brought in a family devoted for Adventure, Mountaineering, trekking and living with nature. Her father Mr. Vinod is a well known personality in Adventure Tourism. Passion for Mountaineering and Trekking is the driving force for all of them. Adventure is in the blood of Khushi since her birth. Her elder brother Kartik passed away in an accident in Nov 2011. He also was a well known Trekker and Mountaineer.
- In the memory of Late Kartik, on his 1st Death anniversary in Nov 2012, an expedition was planned at Kalakrai Pinnacle near Lonavala. Khushi made her mind to participate in this expedition to pay homage to her beloved brother by climbing the pinnacle. Without any poor or strong experience of climbing, with the blessings of her brother and strong will power, she successfully completed the expedition. Just at the age of 11, she became the First Female to climb this tough pinnacle.
- She gained a great confidence and was eager to achieve greater heights. In March 2013, she had an opportunity to participate in the Expedition to climb three of the toughest forts in Sahyadri – ‘Alang, Kulang and Madan. Unlike the previous activities, it involved extensive trekking, technical climbing and adventure. The passion and spirit can do any miracle in our life. She is being recognized as the first lady from Western Maharashtra to achieve this height.
- In 2014, A new assignment of crossing valley with Zipline technique made her more versatile, crossing the 3500 ft deep valley from Jivdhan Fort to Khadaparshi Pinnacle was really new for her. Not only she gracefully crossed it without fear but also rappelled down 350 ft from khadaparashi pinnacle. Her Father Vinod climbed the Khadaparshi Pinnacle in 1989, her late Brother Kartik climbed in 2002 and after 12 years even Khushi climbed it. What a great family!
- She was growing exponentially in mountaineering under the expert guidance of her father. The cycle of successful achievement had a break during her next assignment of climbing Bhairavgad. She had to leave this expedition half the way due to bad weather conditions. The stormy and rainy nature taught her to face the failure. It was a great experience for her. Now she is ready to face any rockbold in her life.
In 2014, she crossed another tough valley at Dukes Nose Lonawala with Zipline technique. 650ft long crossing with deep valley down, blessings of brother and techniques from her father made her successful. - In Nov. 2014, she completed a record breaking adventure expedition in Nepal Himalaya. She became a youngest and first female mountaineer from South – West Maharashtra to reach Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar at 19,500 ft. above Sea Level(19500ft)
- All this experience helped her to get selected in a team from Mumbai who together climbed Mt. Hunuman Tibba(19554ft) and Mt. Shitidhar(17244ft). She is the first female mountaineer in Kolhapur as well as in South – West Maharashtra to get selected for such Himalayan climbing Expedition at the age of just 14Yrs.
