Itinerary

DAY 01: GUWAHATI – SHILLONG (90 KMS / 2 ½ HRS APPROX):

After arrival at Guwahati airport/railway station meet our driver and then proceed towards Shillong. Enroute visit to Umiam Lake. You can go for boat ride at Umiam Lake. Later drive towards Shillong. A beautiful city encircled by pine trees, Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya. It derives its name from Lei Shyllong, an idol worshipped at the Shillong Peak. Standing as tall as 1496 meters, Shillong provides a relief from the heat across the country. This hill station is known for its picturesque sights and traditions. The soothing climate makes Shillong suitable to visit in all seasons. The light drizzles and the cooling gentle wind adds to the joy of visiting this hill station. This place is also known as the ‘Scotland of the East’.Later drive to hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 02: SHILLONG – CHERRAPUNJEE (56 KMS / 2 ½ HRS APPROX ):

After breakfast at the hotel proceed for sightseeing of Cherrapunjee: Seven Sisters Waterfalls, Nahkhalikai Falls, Dainthlen Falls, Thangkharang park and Mwasmai Cave – is only a distance of 150 meters is open for tourists, while the other section is closed. The stalactites and stalagmites caves have innumerable forms, shapes and sizes inside leaving one to imagine as many life forms as possible. This magnificent natural wonder is the handiwork of years of natural abrasion and underground water. After all the sight seeing drive back to Shillong. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 03: CHERRAPUNJEE– MAWLYNNONG – SHILLONG (90 KMS / 3 HRS EACH WAY):

After breakfast drive to Mawlynnong Village. Mawlynnong/Mawlynnong Village located in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, also referred as ‘God’s own garden’ has won the acclaim of being the cleanest village in Asia in 2003. The village known for its cleanliness is located around 90 kms from Shillong and is a community based eco-tourism initiative. The community has made collective effort to maintain the ambience of a clean village. The village offers picturesque natural beauty, a trek to the living root bridge at a neighbouring village Riwai. Also visit to Umgnot River dawki which is famous for crystal clear water. Visit to Tamabil(Bangladesh) Border Later drive back to Shillong. Ovenight at hotel.

DAY 04: SHILLONG – KAZIRANGA (320 KMS 7 HRS APPROX.):

After breakfast drive to Kaziranga.Kaziranga National park is a world heritage site famous for the Great Indian One Horned Rhinoceros. Along with the iconic Greater one-horned rhinoceros, the park is the breeding ground of elephants, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer. Over the time, the tiger population has also increased in Kaziranga, and that’s the reason why Kaziranga was declared as Tiger Reserve in 2006. Also, the park is recognized as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International for the conservation of avifaunal species. Birds like lesser white-fronted goose, ferruginous duck, Baer's pochard duck and lesser adjutant, greater adjutant, black-necked stork, and Asian Openbill stork specially migrate from the Central Asia during the winter season. Evening enjoy Cultural Show ( 6pm-8pm) at Kaziranga Bio diversity Park. Overnight at Kaziranga Hotel.

DAY 05: KAZIRANGA-BOMDILA(220 KMS/ 6 HRS APPROX):

Early morning proceed for Elephant Safari in the Central Range of the Park. Later drive back to hotel for breakfast and then proceed for Jeep Safari in the western range of the park. Later drive back to Bomdila. Overnight at Bomdila.

DAY 06: BOMDILA- TAWANG (150 KMS/5 HRS APPROX):

After breakfast drive to Tawang En-route witness the snowcapped Sella Pass at 14000 ft and the JaswantGarh War Memorial. Legend has it that Jaswant (Mahavir Chakra Awardee (Posthumous) of 4th BatallionGarhwal Rifles), fought a lone battle against the invading Chinese during the 1962 war. His spirit is still believed to protect the place.Tawang is situated at an altitude of 3500m. The natural beauty and solitude of Gudpi and Chong-Chugmi ranges, Tawangchu River and Tawang Valley are mesmerizing. The inhabitants of the districts are all of Monpa tribes except Shyo village which is dominated by people of Tibetan Origin. Later drive back to hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 07: TAWANG:

After breakfast at the hotel proceed for sightseeing of 400 years (17th century) old Tawang Monastery which is the second largest monastery in the world after Potala Palace in Tibet. The building is about 113 feet long and 80 feet wide and houses valuable antiquities, books and manuscripts-handwritten and printed. Later visit Tawang War Memorial, a 40 foot high multi-hued memorial, has a structure constructed in stupa design. Dedicated to the martyrs of Sino-Indo War held in 1962, this memorial is nestled among beautiful peaks, which overlooks the Tawang-Chu valley. Later return back to Hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 08: TAWANG – BUMLA PASS- TAWANG:

After breakfast at the hotel proceed for Madhuri Lake and Bumla Pass. Kindly note entry to Bumla Pass is restricted and depends on the permission from Army officials. Later transfer to Tawang hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 09: TAWANG – DIRANG (160 KMS/ 5 HRS APPROX):

After breakfast drive to Dirang. Snow-clad Himalayan ranges, a rustic charm and spirituality filled in the air; all these ingredients make Dirang a perfect hideout to spend some tranquil holidays in the lap of Mother Nature. The little village lies hidden in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh and stands as a gateway to the state’s much celebrated tourist destination, Tawang. After reaching Dirang visit Dirang Fort. Dirang Fort.Dirang Dzong or Dirang fort was built in the 17th century to protect Bomdila from the neighboring states. In fact during the infamous Vietnam War, the fort
was used as a jail and in world war period, this fort was used as a shelter. Later drive back to hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 10: DIRANG– GUWAHATI (230 KMS 7 HRS APPROX.):

After breakfast check out from hotel and drive towards Guwahati . Overnight at hotel.

DAY 11: GUWAHATI LOCAL:

After breakfast visit Kamakhya Temple and Umananda Temple (Peacock Island). Afternoon visit Sunset River Cruise in Brahmaputra. Then visit Balaji Temple. Overnight in Guwahati.

DAY 12: DEPARTURE:

After breakfast drive towards airport for onward connection.
